11th BAMBINO FESTIVAL IN PASIG CITY

The Pasig City Cultural Affairs and Tourism Office initiated the holding of a Bambino Festival to honor the Sto. Niño. Conceptualized in 2001 by former Pasig City Mayor SOLEDAD C. EUSEBIO and MSGR. RODOLFO A. GALLARDO, the Bambino Festival is rendered for the benefit of the numerous and growing devotees of the Holy Child in Pasig City. It is an occasion which allows Pasigueños to pay homage to the Santo Niño De Pasig as well as strengthen their faith and devotion to the Holy Child.
On January 15, 2012, the Pasigueños culminated its own feast of the Sto. Niño with a Grand Procession of various images of the Holy Child. It was participated in by fifteen (15) parishes of the city, school representatives, Department Heads and employees of the Pasig City Local Government, Barangay Officials, NGOs, volunteer groups and members of various sectors.
The said activity dubbed as “Bambino Festival”, the grand procession started at around 3:00PM of January 15, 2012. It was assembled by organizers early that afternoon at the vicinity of the Bulwagan ng Katarungan, Pasig City. It passed through major streets in the city proper particularly in front of the Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral and at the Plaza Rizal. Upon reaching that area, the emcee on a makeshift stage greeted and acknowledged the great number of devotees who took part in that public procession. Among those who graced the occasion were Hon. Mayor ROBERT C. EUSEBIO and wife MARIBEL, members of the City Council, Department Heads and employees of the Pasig City Local Government, Reverent Father RONNIE SAMANIEGO, Department Heads and employees of the Pasig City Local Government.
Adding color to the event were the Ati-Atihan Groups and the Pasig City Marching Band. The theme for this year’s celebration was “Sto. Nino De Pasig, Inspirasyon Ka Ng Batang Pasigueno”. Now on its eleventh year, the festival was jointly organized by the Pasig City Government and the Diocese of Pasig. Various images of Sto. Niño from collectors and devotees were put on display at the Pasig City Museum from January 7 to 15, 2012 as one of the highlights of the said affair. The City Mayor said that the festival does not only showcase the synergy between the local government and the Church, but also manifest the Pasigueños’ devotion to the Holy Child.
During those events, members of the Pasig City Police Station led by PSSUPT JESSIE L CARDONA, Chief of Police rendered covert and overt security coverage and police visibility operations at the vicinity of the Plaza Rizal, Immaculate Conception Cathedral and Pasig City Museum. The same were exerted on the route of the grand procession to ensure that the festival will be undertaken sans hassle.
The activity ended at around 7:10PM of same date with no untoward incident ever recorded.

Christmas is indeed in the air in Pasig City as local government officials led by Hon. Mayor ROBERT “BOBBY” C. EUSEBIO with wife MARIBEL, members of the City Council headed by Hon. ROSALIO V. MARTIRES and constituents celebrated its annual PASKOTITAP Float Parade last December 11, 2011 showcasing the creativity and artistry of its local residents. Now on its fifth year, the parade is a Christmas tradition eagerly anticipated both by Pasigueños and residents from neighboring cities and is included in the City Tourism Department’s Calendar of Activities.
During the activity, members of this Station under the leadership of PSSUPT JESSIE L CARDONA, MPA, Chief of Police rendered covert and overt security coverage for the 5th PASKOTITAP Super Magical Christmas in Pasig City. It is made prominent with a lights and sounds float parade; a project of the Rotary Club of Mutya ng Pasig in cooperation with the local government.
Thrills and excitement filled the air as participants from various schools in colorful costumes showed their dance skills. Marching bands, stilt walker, fire eater, uni-cyclist, jugglers and twelve (12) floats inspired by well-loved super heroes and the most distinct from those is the nativity tableau advanced through major Streets in Barangays Ugong, Rosario, Maybunga, Caniogan, Kapasigan and San Nicolas, Pasig City via Ortigas, Dr. Sixto Antonio, A. Mabini and Caruncho Avenues which started at about 6:00 PM also of December 11, 2011 from the Tiendesitas, Frontera Verde Complex, Barangay Ugong, this locality, towards the city hall.
Those boat like structures featured cartoon characters like Poof Anime, Batman, Woody, Boings Anime, Superman, Aquaman, Buzz, Kung Fu Panda, Angry Bird, Captain America and Power Puff Girls.
At around 8:15 PM of same date the Float Parade ended in front of the City Hall. Contingents from participating private and public schools of Pasig City wowed spectators with their colorful performances.
The festivals ended with an array of fireworks display at around 11:00 PM of same date.
TACTICAL MOTORCYCLE RIDERS (TMR) NABBED MURDER SUSPECT

Leonardo Concepcion y Bonagan, 59 years old married, driver, native of Tondo, Manila and a resident of #220 H. Lopez Boulevard, Balot, Tondo, Manila was arrested by elements of the Pasig City Police Station Tactical Motorcycle Riders (TMR).
Initial Investigation disclosed that on or about 4:40PM of November 13, 2011, at Mercedes Avenue corner Lupang Pari, Brgy. San Miguel, Pasig City, victim Antonio Arceo y Pakinggan alias “Tony”, 52 years old, single, with live-in partner was asked by an unidentified female person to repair their vehicle parked along Mercedes Avenue of same locality. After a short conversation, the victim took his tool box and proceeded at the said place together with the female person. When they reached the said place, the suspect armed with handgun and for no apparent reason shot the victim several times and fled on foot. EPD-SOCO Team led by PINSP RAEGAN A JOKSI with three (3) others arrived at the crime scene. Victim sustained gunshot wounds on the head wherein the bullet entered his forehead and exited at the back and another gunshot wound at the back of his body. Fortunately, PO2 Ephraim Ferrer and other members of TMR who were conducting patrol at the said area were able to arrest the fleeing suspect after a concerned citizen tagged him as the one who shot the victim. Recovered from his possession and control were one (1) stainless Amadeo Rosi SA .38 caliber revolver, with Serial Number J236477 with markings ETF 11-13-11-A, three (3) pieces of spent shells with markings ETF 11-13-11-1 to 3 and three (3) pieces live ammunitions with markings ETF 11-13-11-4. Motive of the incident is yet to be determined. Suspect is presently detained at this station and appropriate charge has been filed against him at the Pasig City Prosecutor’s Office under Information Sheet Number XV-14-INQ-11K-00912. ANTI-CRIMINALITY CAMPAIGN OF THE PASIG CITY POLICE STATION

An Anti-criminality operation through Saturation Drive was conducted by this station at about 10:00PM of September 6, 2011 at Vicper Compound, Brgy. Malinao, Pasig City. This is an offshoot on the series of Shooting Incidents occurred at the said area for the month of August 2011.
Said operation was jointly conducted by elements of the Pasig City POlice Station led by PSUPT ALFREDO M CALAMA-AN, Deputy Chief of Police for Operation (DCOPO), Police Community Precinct (PCP) #2 PINSP ALFORD C ACCAD and under the supervision of the Chief of Police.
Prior to the operation a briefing was held at 2nd floor lobby of Pasig City Police Station led by PSUPT ALFREDO M CALAMA-AN, DCOPO and PINSP RODRIGO M DE DIOS, OIC, Station Operations and Plans Branch discussed the possible area of operation and its execution with emphasis on human rights.

As a result, seventeen (17) persons were found loitering at the said area were rounded up hence investigated/questioned and later on release after verification has been made by the Warrant Section that they have no existing warrant of arrest.

Maybunga, Pasig City. The Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service club organization. It was formed to foster local and international good relations and service to the community.
